The spectator turnout for the S.A. National Drag Racing Championship Series held at Tarlton International Raceway on 27^th April was colossal.   The event was made more electrifying when Nico van Rensburg, racing his iconic MotorOne/C-Track/McCarthy Toyota Ford Thunderbird, set a new benchmark for the A-Altered class by establishing a new E.T. record of 7.47 seconds and a new speed record of 303kph.

Running the car on Hoosier tyres for the first time, Nico effortlessly took the win for the Senior Eliminator category.  What makes this even more remarkable is that he also wrote himself into the history books as this is the first time that an A-Altered car has ever dipped below the 7.5 second mark and pushed the 300kph boundary, an extraordinary achievement.
